Mini pizzas and microphones.

Day 5.

The alarm went at 7:25 and I actually got up... 10 minutes later! Th usual shower, dressing and breakfast routine was duly adhered to before the short walk to the workshop. Another beautiful Spring morning brightening the bleary-eyed mood. I started on my job from yesterday - removing old glue; still sticky and long! I'm settling into the workshop a lot now and sharing 'tanti scherzi' (many jokes) with Claudio and Stefano. The phone continued to ring with irritating regularity, but nothing new there.
Come lunchtime my fingers were hurting from the delicate but hard job I'd been doing. I made myself mini pizzas from bread rolls, tomatoes, olive oil, ham and mozzarella and enjoyed them with a bit of salad.
After lunch a customer came with his accordion ready to be fitted with a microphone system. Claudio asked me to help, which gave me a break from glue removal duties!I helped with dismantling the accordion, taping up wires, making holes for microphone volume knobs and reassembling the instrument. I watched the whole process for 3 hours, with Claudio explaining each step. It was fascinating but I got so confused! Tools such as soldering irons, glue guns, files and wire cutters were used for the job. Towards the end I started dismantling my accordion to find some of the wires from my microphone system, which I new needed repair. I quickly discovered that it needed a thorough clean so I proceeded to dismantle it further, ready for jet air cleaning tomorrow.
Back at the flat for dinner, I finish up the packet of ravioli and made another tomato sauce, this time with passata instead of fresh tomatoes, and a bay leaf from the tree behind the workshop.
At 9:15 I walked into Stradella with Erica to meet Kleidi for ice cream. We sat in the gelateria-bar eating and discussing English, Italian, hot chocolate and doughnuts! In case you're interested I had stracciatella, chocolate and banana flavours. We hurried back home where I spoke to Stephanie on FaceTime; a lovely end to an all-round good day!

A domani x

p.s Sorry for the late posting.
